First, let's get you to the .. It's really simple; just click on your Things To Do Tab and look for 'Arcade' {circled in red in the picture below}. Clicking that link will take you to this screen {or the screen for that day, with different game of the day and so on}: For the most part the games are alphabetical in the scrolling window; the last released game is usually first in the scrolling area and the game of the day is above where the list/pictures scroll. When you click on the graphic since it is a link what will show up on the right side in the box instead of the game of the day {unless that is the game of the day} would be: Of course from there you simply click on play game which will take you to the game screen to choose your option {it is only a 1 player game so that is not an option here} and/or to read the instructions. The premise is to click on a letter tile to select it, making a word by clicking on multiple tiles; the more tiles you use to make a word the higher the score in different ways. Click Submit button when you are ready to use the tiles you've picked. This game uses an English dictionary and all words must be in English; they can not be proper names, foreign words or acronyms {like SOS or other letters that stand for words/titles}. You have to make 10 words and beat the goal to go on to the next level. If you make 10 words but don't meet the goal {score high enough} then the game is over at that point. In making words you can use both the outer and inner tiles but once you start using the inner tiles in a particular word you can not go back out to letters in the outer ring. Otherwise the letter tiles you select don't have to be next to each other but you must select tiles from outside to inside. Using the center tile as the last letter in that word gives extra points. Words can be 3 to 8 letters long. There is a Shuffle function that can be used if you get stuck on making a word but be careful of using it too much because it costs 5 points for each shuffle after you have used your 3 free shuffles. You receive 1 KC for every 7 points you get. Above, for example, the highlighted {whiter} letters have been chosen; the outer letters grey out once you click in to the center ring of letters and the rest of the center letters grey out once you click on the very center letter tile}. Here I have chosen to spell BATTLE, which is worth 32 points; the points for the center letters go up as the outer letters are picked. There is also a Bonus Word which once spelled earns extra points, does count as 1 of the 10 words spells, and then changes to yet another Bonus Word. To unselect all letters quickly there is the Clear button to the left of the lower screen, the Shuffle button on the far left {remember that it costs points after your 3 free shuffles} and the right side has the Submit button. Below is what I saw after I hit select; the used letters are taken away and replaced with new letter tiles. Tips/Tricks/Hints: When you see a D, E, S or R in the middle square that's excellent because there are many long/longer words that can be ended with these letters. If you see something like a B or P that is more likely to cause problems ending a word in the middle square without shuffling but there are words like verb, adverb, reverb, absorb, adlib, rhubard and cobweb. I heard someone also add G but there are quite a few -ing words that could be made so that's not quite as much a problem in most cases. For a Q you will either have to shuffle or not use the center tile to end the word with; however, remember, ending the word with the center tile is worth quite a few extra points each time. You should always try to start the word in the outer ring and move in to the middle ring to finish off in the very center because the points add up more that way. The longer the word the more points as well, so it's suggested that you try to make words at least 6 letters long up to 8 letters. If you get past level 8 you will find out that you pretty much have to make 6 or more letter long letter words to meet the level {point} goal. As you select each letter in a ring you will notice that the other letters' point values go up so again the longer the word the better point-wise. The outer ring makes the inner and center ring go up even faster but to get those point values you will of course have to actually be able to use the letter{s} in the inner rings. You do not have to use letters in the second ring to use the center ring letter tile however, nor do you have to use the outer ring to use the center ring but your points won't be as high and your word won't be as long. You can shuffle as many times as you like but after the 3 free ones 5 up to 10 points will be taken off your total score made, depending on how many times you have shuffled the tiles in that game. Obviously it is better to hold off using the shuffle as long as you can without messing up your score otherwise. To help build words {and point} look for double consonants that are frequently used to make words such as TR, BR, GR, GL, STR, SP, SPR, SM and so on because of course the more letters you can string together to make a word the higher the total word value witll be. An example is, if possible {with the letters you are given that time} is if you see something like SEAM then look around for possibilities like TEAM to make TEAMS or STEAM. Very small words like RAP can usually be added to with something like an S and T if available to get STRAP or TRAPS and so on. Plural words are allowed so use them to add another letter and more points to the word score. There are also prefixes such as RE, PRE, PRO, IN, UN, EN, BE and so on; these can be used to make such words as repair, relief, realize, invest, insure, inventor, ensure, enlarge, behest, bestow, etcetera. Compound words are also allowed so words such as OUT, OVER, FORE, DAY and FOOT can stretch a word in to a much longer word such as FOOTBALL, DAYLIGHT and so on. Suffixes come in handy as well to use G's and other endings in the center or to help make longer words that could end in ING, TION, SION, ABLE, LOW, ISH, EST, IEST and so on. If you end up with a W in the middle look around for an O and some consonant pairs to try to make something like fellow, mellow, sallow, shallow, tallow, bellow or if no pairs are available look to make something like below, bestow, regrow, know. A letter or two to the beginning or ending of a word can really buff up a word score total so remember things like quite/requite, room/groom, took/stook, tuck/stuck/tucks, beat/bleat, feet/fleet, train/retrain, woke/awoke, etcetera. Even Q if there is a U placed decently can be worked with; quite, quack, squire, squeal, squash, quest, request, quaff/quaffed/quaffers, quaked, qualm, quark, quarrel, quarters, squaw and so on. If the Z is on the inner squares it can be useful as well, not being as hard to use as you'd think all the time; frozen, sleazy, laziest, zeroed, crazier, realize, etc. F can be a problem if there aren't any helpful letters to go with it but otherwise there are words such as aloof, relief, scoff, tipoff, proof, staff, grief, coif, and brief {which will at least save a shuffle}. Looking around at least for a little bit will make sure you don't pass up extras with simple things like letter pairs {TH, CH, CK, SH, PL, SL, KN} or ending like ED and LY. If you are primarily using the game to earn KC quickly they suggest you purposely lose around level 5. On every level just make the first word you see that ends in the center letter. 3 letter words will get you all the way up to level 4 when you have to start making 4 and 5 letter words. On level 5 go back to 3 letter words, missing the goal {score} on purpose which will give you 100 or so kc with the smallest effort. This isn't quite as quick as answering questions at Quizzy's Corner but for some it's not quite as boring. There is no trophy for this game.
